When thinking about service or volunteering projects, many religious organizations come to mind. We at the SAIU value giving back to the community just as much as any other organization, and we try and do our part.
Service Projects
Pages to Prisoners
For this service project, volunteers receive book request lists from prisoners and attempt to find the books and then package them to be sent off.
Hoosier Hills Food Bank
We volunteer with the Meal Share program, which safely captures prepared food from restaurants, catering businesses and other food preparation entities and distribute it to families in need.
Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard
Previously, the SAIU volunteered once a month with MHC. Volunteers from the SAIU help this local food pantry by deep-cleaning the floors, windows, and coolers.
Cleaning the Cascades Trail
In April 2011 we spent an afternoon cleaning up the lower Cascades Trail for the City of Bloomington. We picked up lots of trash and recyclables, leaving the trail sparkling and fresh!
