The community stagnates without the impulse of the individual. The impulse dies away without the sympathy of the community.
Many people ask us, “What is the point of having an organization dedicated to secularism?” Secularists are not be able to bond over a belief in the same god(s), a commonality that binds religious groups and sects together so strongly, and in fact the beliefs and viewpoints in our group vary widely. One thing we all share, though, is a quest for truth, a love for empirical knowledge and a resolute dedication to the discourse of reason. “Nonreligious” (encompassing atheists, agnostics, humanists, deists, freethinkers, skeptics and more) is the fastest-growing religious affiliation in the United States, but not necessarily the most vocal. We exist to provide community and awareness to those who may feel like they can’t find a place in any other religious organization.
If you’re a member of a religious organization and you’re interested in having a discussion, debate or perspective-sharing event with us, we’d love to hear from you!
We have a social director, Natalie, who plans events and outings for us. Contact her if you’d like to help plan or have an idea for an event.

Sunday Fundays
Once a month we have a Sunday Funday, which is the perfect time to join us if you prefer not to participate in discussions! We drink tea, eat treats and baked goods made by our members, and play various board and non-board games in lieu of our normal Sunday discussion format. Some examples of our games include Apples to Apples, Bibleopoly, Settlers of Catan and Trivial Pursuit. We’ve also used our Sunday Funday time to play charades or Pictionary, to have formal dress-up parties and to go out on the town.
Atheist Happy Hour
The first Friday of every month, we meet with atheists from the greater Bloomington community at Player’s Pub, an all-ages restaurant and bar. This is a friendly environment, and you’re welcome to drop by between 5:30 and 7:00ish. We’re always at a big table in the back room.
