Drag yourself out of your bunk and over to Lindley 102 on Saturday, March 31 at 12pm. We’ll be watching the verse’s biggest, damnedest, heroiest heros in a two-day marathon of the greatest single-season science fiction show to ever grace the airwaves of this planet: Firefly.
The show follows a band of intergalactic troublemakers, just doing what they have to do to survive in this universe. The show is set in space and on various planets and has western and science fiction elements to it. In a manner typical of Joss Whedon, the show is funny, heartbreaking, and awesome, and deals with things like morality, sexuality, religion, and badassery.
On Saturday, Mar. 31 from 12-8pm, we’ll be watching episodes 1-7. On Saturday, Apr. 7, we’ll watch episodes 8-14. (See a list of episodes here: wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Firefly_episodes). Please bring some money for pizza or Baked! or whatever. You are more than welcome to bring some other type of food (sandwiches, cookies, popcorn, etc) for us all to munch on.

This Sunday we will hold officer elections and break from our normally completely serious atmosphere for board games, card games, mind games, laughter and frivolity.
On Thursday, Mar. 29 at 7pm in Lindley 102, join us to watch Pan’s Labyrinth (2006). IMDb says: “In the fascist Spain of 1944, the bookish young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world.” You may join us for dinner afterward if you like.
SAIU will be volunteering with the Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project on Monday, March 26! As stated on their website, “The Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project is an all volunteer effort that strives to encourage self-education among prisoners in the United States”.
On Saturday, Mar. 24 at 7pm at the IU Cinema, SAIU members will attend a screening of the movie “Women Without Men”. The film follows four individual women in Iran in 1953, after a British- and American-backed coup removed the democratically-elected government. The film offers a lot of reflection on social structures and faith.-picture-MOV_60f14140_b.jpg)
On Friday, March 23 at 5:30pm we will be volunteering for Hoosier Hills Food Bank’s Meal Share program.
