On Monday, February 20 at 6pm in Fine Arts 015, Hemant Mehta will talk to us about his experiences as a high school math teacher, and the importance of teaching young people how to think critically.  Hemant is an author and the mind behind the popular blog The Friendly Atheist and  also the author of I Sold My Soul on Ebay.We say this about all the talks, but this talk will be spectacular and awesome; don’t miss it.

1. We will have a table with jars for specific denominations. Make a cash donation – 50% of donations benefit Doctors Without Borders and 50% will benefit the Secular Alliance - http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org

2. The jars will be labelled with participating religious groups.

3. We will attend the religious services of the first and second place denominations.

 

ANYONE can donate, regardless if they’re an IU student, a member of a participating church, etc.

Service Event: Midwest Pages to Prisoners

SAIU will be volunteering with the Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project on Monday, February 6! As stated on their website, “The Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project is an all volunteer effort that strives to encourage self-education among prisoners in the United States”.

Volunteering is from 7 to 9. We will be meeting at the Sample Gates at 6:30 to walk to the project (located at 118 South Rogers Street). You can meet with us at the Sample Gates or directly at the project.
