Our group feels the need to have more of a public presence. This semester, we have begun work on a community center, where we wish to provide easily-accessible resources such as people to speak to, stories, mentors, and a library.

Community Center

The SAIU office is currently located in the IMU Student Activities Tower room 577. While we have no specific hours of operation at this time, if you contact us in advance someone will be able to set up an appointment.

Stories

Transitioning from high school to college is never easy, and can be especially difficult for those leaving a religion. We aim to provide guidance from current SAIU members who have gone through this process. We’ve asked our members to write up short descriptions of their histories of coming to secularism. These stories will be available for you to read through and decide if you’d like to speak to any of the authors.

Mentors

If you feel like just talking to someone about how they’ve made it, or you found a story that closely parallels yours, please contact us so we can set up a one-on-one meeting.

Library

We are currently building a library containing books on skepticism, atheism, science, secularism, theology, ethics, and cosmology. There will soon be an online listing of our books, but for now you can come in by appointment to check out a book if you’re interested.
