Visit to the creation museum 11/15

Posted at 2:11 am November 7th, 2008 by Joe

Are you ready to marvel at the wonders of Creationism!  Prepare yourself to enter a world where religion is science, science is fraud, and faith is the answer to all disbelief.

On Saturday, November 15th, we will be making our way down to Kentucky to visit the recently established creation museum.  We will be leaving in the morning and should be back around dinnertime.  It will be $15 per person for tickets and the ride there and back.  Food will not be provided.

Why should you go?  It’s important for any secular thinker to understand how dangerous and manipulative religion can be.  The creation museum doesn’t even function as a pseudoscience; yet somehow, they are able to convince thousands of visitors that creationism reveals the true origins of the universe, and many are left with confidence that their christian beliefs have been proven.

Signups are welcome through the very last minute.  Be there with the monies and you get in!

Meeting time and place for when we leave Saturday morning will be updated soon.

If you have any questions, contact me.

Jesus Camp 11/10

Posted at 1:11 am November 7th, 2008 by Joe

At long last, our first movie night has been scheduled for Monday!

Monday November 10
7:30pm
Student Building room 150

An SAIU showing of JESUS CAMP.

This is a phenomenal and emotional movie. Although it’s normally portrayed as being anti-evangelical, compared to other recent documentaries on religion the movie takes an interesting approach by not using an opinionated voice-over (although some might say the editing is rather political).

There will time for discussion after the movie.

Feel free to bring snacks!

If you have new suggestions for movies to show, send them my way. We’ll be doing this every other week until the end of the semester.

Hope to see you there!
